The Delaware Valley

I travel. Sometimes I travel by boat, plane, or automobile. Sometimes I travel by book. Sometimes I explore the real world. This week I rambled around my own area with a good friend. We parked on the New Jersey side at Lambertville and walked across the bridge for a delightful riverside lunch. Shops and galleries abound on both sides of the river. As is always true here, you can’t go a block without bumping into an eighteenth century historical marker. We found one in a pocket park marking a ferry service it claimed transported George Washington in the attack on Trenton. I think it likely meant “some of his troops” because I’m pretty sure he crossed further downstream.

Earlier we spent a day at the magnificent Longwood Gardens. Flowers, fountains, a conservatory and an amazing collection of water lilies. Over 1000 acres.

I needed this break. I’m just about to rewrite The Defiant Daughter (due August 1) and I’ve started The Forgotten Daughter (due November 1) while anticipating launch of not one but two books in July, The Wayward Son and The Price of Glory.
