Finding Balance

There are at least two kinds of balance. The first, basic physical balance has been a problem lately. The nice folks at physical therapy have documented quite thoroughly that mine is not what it should be. First I didn’t do well on the exercises and walking tests, then they tested my vestibular system, aka the workings of my inner ear. Sure enough, issues. As if two falls didn’t teach me that. So safety measures in the house, keep the cane, keep up eye appointments, and exercise care.

The other kind of balance is usually called work/life balance. Every woman knows the fight to keep all the demands of life in their proper balance, especially this time of year. No different with me. Inside the work, however, balancing it all can be an issue. Drafting a new story is one thing. Getting it to readers is another. The past few days a variety of things have piled on top of each other. Think of it as a rickety pile of stuff to do that is in great danger of toppling over.

I’ve been juggling blog guests, promotional commitments for Merry Belles, and some administrative commitments for The Bluestocking Belles—and writing, of course. We take stock periodically and have begun to plan for 2026 and 2027. Progress has been impeded by very messy files and I volunteered to work on that too. Merry Belles and filing collided when I realized the other authors had all made character memes and I had not. Oops. So I took a right angle turn into that project. A few hours, three kinds of software, and much grumbling later I had created these images for “The Angel’s Announcement.” Not brilliant but I think they will do.

So I’m like one of those ducks, serene above water, but paddling like mad below. I need to get a Facts blog posted and then get back to editing Book 2 in the Honor at Heart series. But first, coffee.
