Curveballs

baseball-2489967_1280-300x208 Author's Blog But First Coffee Life throws things at us. Sometimes we don’t see them coming. Sometimes we swing and miss. Last week was like that. I have known for a while that my old version of Word for Mac was aging. It had not received an update in a year or two. I decided it was time to upgrade. I deleted the entire thing and installed the newest version. Sound’s simple, right?

A curveball zoomed right past me. Microsoft’s fault? My MAC’s fault? My fault? Doesn’t matter. After three days of trying every suggestion on every related website, running utilities, upgrading the operating system, trying a new profile, hours online in live chat with support, and multiple reinstalls, I struck out. I was dead in the water (to mix in another metaphor). I am now a happy user of OpenOffice, and, what is more important, back to work.

I managed to get some tasks done. Facts Behind the Fiction went up as usual. I beta read a friend’s book. Most important of all, I finished the the epilogue for Family Honor, book 1 for Honor at Heart. It didn’t quite make it to beta readers as I hoped. I will give it a read through and some polish and send it on as soon as I can. But first, coffee.
