The Short Version

https://www.carolinewarfield.com(known hereafter as “The site) collects only the minimum data required to function and do business.

In short:

  1. We only collect and store personal data you voluntarily give us and can see.
  2. We will delete any and all personal data as soon as you request that we do so.
  3. Usage data such as browser information, IP address and so on may be used anonymously to analyze site or business performance. It may be retained in system logs for a period of time,
  4. We will not sell or lease your personal information or usage data to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.
  5. In the unlikely event of a data breach, you would be informed immediately
  6. When the site interacts with a third party or social media sites you should consult their privacy policies.

An Overview

We use the information you provide to post and respond to your comments, tally contest results, or send newsletters with information about future releases, promotional pricing, contests or other activity. We send no other form of marketing email. You have a right at any time to unsubscribe from the newsletter. If you no longer wish to receive it, please click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.

In some instances, if you have been asked to comment on a post to be eligible for a prize drawing, we may view the data and send an email informing you should you win.

The software also collects usage data such data is used anonymously to track the effectiveness of certain activity, blog posts, or advertising.

We will not sell or lease your personal information or usage data to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

Caroline Warfield is a pseudonym for Carol Lynn Roddy, who is legally responsible for the site and contracts with service providers.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device.

Retention of Data

The site will retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary for our purposes or until you ask to have it removed. Under certain circumstances, Caroline Warfield and the site may be required to disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by subpoena.

Security Of Data

The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Security tools employed by the site include but are not limited to firewall, Wordfence, and up to date SSL certificates from Commodo.

Service Providers

The site uses server space and hosting by Namecheap. In that relationship, Namecheap has updated their policies and processes to be GDPR complaint. Carol Roddy/Caroline Warfield is their customer. As it relates to data privacy, Carol Roddy is the Controller and Namecheap is the Processor. The relationship is spelled out in the Data Processing Addendum to the contract. You may read it here:

Third Party Products

The site may occasionally use tools links that link to other sites. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Social Media

In the process of interacting with Caroline Warfield via this site, you may use links to social media services. These may include but not be limited to Caroline’s Amazon author page, Bookbub, Goodreads, Facebook, and Twitter.

Providing your personal information to social media sites is done at your own volition and risk. You should consult the privacy policies of each site with which you interact.

Rafflecopter and other contest tools.

From time to time, Caroline Warfield may utilize Rafflecopter, Booksweeps, or other tools to provide contest and giveaway opportunities for readers. Contest, raffle, and giveaway opportunities provided at the user’s risk. We recommend you check the privacy policy of any third party site.  Be aware that data obtained from those entries may be stored on their sites. We do not import or use entry date except in cases in which users explicitly request to receive our newsletter.

Mailerlit

Caroline Warfield uses Mailerlite to distribute her newsletter and manage subscribers. When you sign up for the newsletter, your email address, country of origin, and date you subscribed are stored on the servers of Mailerlite.  Usage data tracked includes the number of newsletters you have been sent, how many you opened, and the number of times you clicked on it.

If you wish to stop receiving the newsletter, you may click on unsubscribe on the bottom of any copy of the newsletter, request to have it removed by contacting Caroline Warfield.  Once you have unsubscribed you will no longer receive the email. Your subscription data will be retained on Mailerlite for statistical purposes. Contact Caroline if  would like to purge your information completely.

Children’s Privacy

The site is not intended for anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”), and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time.

We will notify you via a prominent notice on the site and mention in the newsletter, prior to the change becoming effective and update the “effective date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
