Highlighting Historical Romance with Nicole Zoltack and some Viking Lore.

An arrow poisoned with mistletoe claimed the life of Balder. His mother Frigga cried over him, and her tears turned the red berries white. Those white berries brought Balder back to life!

Their midwinter feast would last for twelve days, the precursor to the twelve days of Christmas.

They decorated trees but not indoors. The decorated evergreen trees with all kinds of objects to appease the gods—statues, food, clothing… They would also carve runes into the bark. The Scandinavians thought that spirits lived in the trees, but that those spirits departed during the winter. They would make offerings to the trees in the hopes of coaxing the spirits back so they could have a bountiful harvest the coming season.

Scandinavians used to decorate evergreen trees with statues, food, clothing, and runes as tribute to the gods. Additionally, it was believed that spirits living in the trees, but went away during the winter months, and could be coaxed back with household offerings.
