Here Again—Gone Again

When I slid into June exhausted from launching The Reluctant Wife—which let me just say is a very good tale of love, loss, journeys, and reconciliation. Sigh…

coffee-break-1454539196eJw-300x259 But First Coffee Where was I? Oh yes. Launching. It is exhausting work to get the word out about a new book, and I had guest visits to a few dozen blogs and eZines. Whew. So I slid into June worn out and decided to give myself the summer off. And I did, aside from completing the made-to-order story for the winner of my Spring blog tour grand prize. I’m rather pleased with the result, a lovely story about a whaler and a tavern wench set in a Scottish fishing village. (Scotland being inevitable after visiting Orkney in June)

Yes—the summer off, aside from that and aside from attending Rust City Book Con… a story for another day. I’m back and I vowed to return to more regular communications in September, but here it is the 18th and I’m just writing my first post. You may have noticed I managed to reinvigorate Highlighting Historical last week. I’m booked through December so you can watch for those every week.

I’m slowing getting back in the groove. Currently on my desk:

  1. My work in progress! the Unexpected Wife is underway, and I now know more about China and the First Opium War than I expected.
  2. My story for the Bluestocking Belles’ 2017 anthology was done in June but it is now beta read, edited, formatted and in the process of proofreading. The eight of us wrote eight different stories all based on four story elements selected by our readers, and set in different years for the 12th century through 1916. That last one is mine. I think you’ll like my hero, Harry, a Canadian soldier. Find out more when we reveal our cover, stories, and characters on September 23.
  3. Lady Charlotte’s Christmas Vigil, my Regency romance set in Venice, has been on my laptop for over two years. I’m finally launching it, and have it up for pre-sale on Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes & Noble.
  4. Planning to Celebrate Lady Charlotte and my entire holiday collection, as well as holiday books from several other authors. It is a chance to plan your holiday reading early on October 21.

But I’m gone again. I’m off to Ohio to visit family this week, and in three weeks I will be at the InD’Scribe Conference in California. I hope any of you who live in the area may stop buy to visit.

Hmm. I think I’m off and running. But first, coffee.
